It’s impossible to stand still while watching BAKER BOY’s ridiculously fun live show. Alternately rapping, singing and breakdancing, the 21 year old Indigenous hip hop star (aka Danzal Baker) sings in his native Yolngu Matha and English, mesmerising his audience and inviting them to dance. Baker Boy was raised in the remote NT communities of Yurrwi and based in Melbourne, and first made headlines with his debut single and summer anthems ‘Cloud 9’ and ‘Marryuna’. He snagged two places in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2017, won big at the 2017 NT Song of the Year and AIR Awards and released singles ‘Mr La Di Da Di’ and the more recent ‘Black Magic’. After his smashing his Laneway debut as Unearthed winner in Melbourne in 2018, we can’t wait to welcome him back to Laneway 2019 for the national run.
